International Music Competition for Young Musicians

The International Competition for Young Musicians “The Muse Junior” 2009 in the categories of piano competition, violin competition, and cello competition is under the patronage of the Hellenic Ministry of Mercantile Marine and the Embassy of Russian Federation in Greece

International Association of Art “The Muse” has been hosting the International Piano Competition since 2005, which takes place on one of the most beautiful islands in Greece - Santorini. Every September, tourists and residents of this island have had wonderful opportunities to listen to young pianists from around the globe. More than 100 pianists, representing European Union, Russia, USA, Japan, Korea, among other countries, have taken part in the competition during these last four years. We are glad to acknowledge that many of them have now become successful performers and can be heard on concert stages around the world.

Starting from 2009, the association shall additionally host a new contest – International Competition for Young Musicians “The Muse Junior”. It will be open for younger participants in categories of piano, violin, and cello. We sincerely believe that this music event shall discover new talents and aid in their future artistic development.

The auditions of the competition are held in the concert hall - Megaro Gyzi in Santorini Greece. This mansion, beautiful combination of architecture style of the island and barocco, was built in the 17th century. It has been recently restored and given new uses to make it once more part of the life of the island. Every summer Megaro Gyzi hosts cultural events including music festivals, theatrical performances, exhibitions, and from 2005 – International Competition "The Muse"!

Based on the enthusiastic reviews and personal opinions we hope to see the competition prosper and progress for years to come!

International Piano Competition “The Muse” in Santorini Greece has already earned reputation of a fair and friendly competition. Young and talented musicians from 26 countries have taken part in the contest since the beginning of “The Muse”. Thousands of tourists and locals of one of the most beautiful Greek islands Santorini have listened to and enjoyed the playing of the participants in the concert hall of Megaro Gyzi – a 17 century mansion.

From 2009 the organizing committee of the competition has decided to hold also an international competition for young musicians – “The Muse Junior”. “Every year, we would have to reply to at least 10-15 requests about possibilities for youngers musicians to participate in our senior competition. – says Vice-President of “The Muse” Christophor Miroshnikov. – We had to finally do something about it and added “The Muse Junior”. “The Muse Junior” 2009 will be open for younger generation of musicians in three age groups, up to 17 years of age, and in three categories – piano competition, violin competition, and cello.
